OPPORTUNITY YOUTH
Opportunity Youth are a population of young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 who are not engaged in school or work, often due to circumstances beyond their control such as disabilities, homelessness, or involvement in the juvenile justice or child welfare systems. In the Houston area alone, there are an estimated 111,000 disengaged youth and young adults.
This disconnection not only affects their immediate well-being but also has long-term effects on their income, employment opportunities, and physical and mental health outcomes. As a society, we cannot afford to overlook the potential of these young adults. The cost to taxpayers is significant, with an estimated $93 billion annually and $1.6 trillion over their lifetimes in lost revenues and increased social services. By donating to Pivot Foundation, you can help us provide educational support and opportunities for these Opportunity Youth to reach their full potential and positively impact their communities.
